After purchasing the Preset Pack, you’ll be able to download 4 zip files:
MM-1-White Balance.zip
MM-2-Levels.zip
MM-3-Color & Tone.zip
Brushes by Miklos Mayer.zip
First, download each zip file to your computer.
Leave them as is now.
Let’s install the Develop Presets first!
The process is a bit different if you use older Lightroom, so here you can select which applies to you
- Using Lightroom Classic 9 or newer
- Using Lightroom Classic 9 or older (but not older than 7.3)
- Using Lightroom CC (Please note the brushes will not work here)
Installing Develop Presets in Lightroom Classic 9 or higher
In the Develop module, under the Presets tab on the left, click on the + icon, and go for Import Preset:
Then locate the zip file and hit Import.
Important: do not import the MM-Brushes zip file like this! (Brushes have to be installed differently)
Repeat this with the first three zip files, until you have MM-1, MM-2 and MM-3 named preset groups:
You're done installing the Develop Presets!
Installing Develop Presets in older Lightrooms
Kindly note that my Preset Pack works together with only Lightroom Classic 7.3 and newer and versions, and with Lightroom CC.
Step 1. Uncompress the zip files
On a Mac, just simply double click on it.
On a PC, right-click on it, and Extract All.
Leave the naming of the extracted folders as is.
Step 2. Go into Lightroom Develop module
The Develop presets can only be accessed from the Develop module.
Step 3. Locate where your current Develop Presets are
On a Mac, they are usually at:
/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings
In Windows, they are usually at:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\Settings
Important!
As you can see, the Develop Presets Lightroom use are not in the actual Develop Preset folder! The Presets are stored as part of CameraRaw settings.
Step 4. Copy the new Presets next to the existing Presets
Locate the extracted Preset folders, and simply copy those into the Lightroom Preset folder that you've located in the previous step.
Once done, the 3 Preset groups should appear in the Develop module, on the left
Installing Develop Presets for Lightroom CC
Please note the brushes will not work in Lightroom CC
Installing Brushes for Lightroom Classic
Extract the zip file called Brushes by Miklos Mayer.zip.
On a Mac, just simply double click on it.
On a PC, right-click on it, and Extract All.
Leave the naming of the extracted folder as is.
Step 1. Locate where Lightroom stores the Brushes
In Windows, they are:
C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Local Adjustments Presets\
On a Mac, they are:
/Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Local Adjustments Presets
Step 2. Copy the new Brush into that folder
Just open the extracted zip folder, and copy the .lrtemplate files (which are the Brushes) into the folder where the other brushes are.
Done!
Using the Lightroom Preset Pack – examples
My Preset pack is organized into 3 groups:
- White Balance Presets
- Level adjustment (Shadow, Highlights) Presets
- Color/toning presets
I organized them by the order of using them.
So let me show you on a few examples...
Night photo of the Chain Bridge
The original photo doesn't have the WB right (too warm), and as I exposed for the highlights, I had to drag the shadows up while maintaining detail in the highlights too.
Night photo of the Hungarian Parliament
A very straightforward shot: again the WB had to be adjusted, followed by extending the dynamic range.
After those, I also applied the Blue Hour curve Preset which gives any night photo a pleasant touch of blue in the blacks.
Milky Way shot
Milky Way and the stars require some special treatment in order to make them pop out from the dark sky.
That's why I created the Milky Way enhance Preset.
This makes the stars pop out, but at the same time, makes the shadows in the foreground very dark.
So that's why I created the Astrolandscape foreground brightener brush, which I applied on the foreground (make sure that the Auto Mask is enabled there)
Blue Hour photo of Buda Castle
In the Blue Hour the White Balance changes quite fast. That's why I have 3 different WB presets for Blue Hour.
Here I liked the look of Blue Hour late Preset - it made the buildings to the same color as seen in real life.
But unfortunately, it made the sky very blue, so that's why I applied the Orange sunset brush on the sky:

Wayne says
Hi how do I use the brushes now that I have downloaded them, I mean how do I find / use them in Lightroom?
Thanks
Mikl贸s Mayer says
Hi Wayne,
The brushes have to be installed in a different way than the presets – unfortunately Adobe doesn’t make this part easy. But I dedicated a chapter for brush installation in the middle of the page.
In short:
– you have to extract the zip file containing the brushes
– locate where LR stores the brush files
– copy the brush files from the extracted folder into the folder where LR keeps the brushes
In Windows, this folder is here:
C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Local Adjustments Presets\
On a Mac, this folder is here:
/Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Local Adjustments Presets
Please see the chapter on this page
I hope that this way you’ll be able to install them – I really wish there was an easier way 馃檪

Hi Miklos,
My local adjustments presets folder is empty, so I put your .lrtemplate files into it, do I also copy the .xmp files into it? The MM-1, MM-2 & MM-3 all have .xmp files and not .lrtemplate files.
Thanks
Hilton
Mikl贸s Mayer says
Hi Hilton,
The brushes are at the right place, leave them there.
But the Develop Presets need to go elsewhere. If you have LR 9 or newer, simply hit the + icon on the Presets in Lightroom and go for Import Presets. And simply choose the zip files starting with MM.
If you use an older Lightroom, it’s a bit different process, which I go into detail in the middle of the page. Please see the tab “Installing Develop Presets in older Lightrooms” on this page:
